What meals are provided?

Three meals a day are provided. The breakfast and lunch you make yourself with various options available. Dinner is a cooked meal. We can cater for vegetarians, but any speciality diets would need to be discussed with us in advance, and may result in an additional charge.

Do I need Travel Insurance?

Both Travel and Medical Insurance is required to volunteer at Selati. Proof hereof must be submitted before your arrival.

What is the weather like?

Summer temperatures average around 35-37°C during the day, dropping to 20 -25°C (68 – 77°F) at night. Winter temperatures can fall as low as 4°C at night and average between 18 – 25°C during the day. Who can apply?

Anyone over the age of 18 years old is welcome. No previous experience in conservation or research is required. We aim to teach and share.

How do I get there?

Various shuttle services are available from the O.R Tambo International Airport. Alternatively, there are direct flights to Hoedspruits’ Eastgate Airport from O.R. Tambo International Airport and a shuttle can bring you to the reserve. Please contact us should you need assistance.

Do I need a visa to visit South Africa?

Depending on which country you come from you may or may not be required to have a visa. We suggest you check with the South African High Commission or Embassy in your home country for visa requirements.
