The SWF has played an important role in the implementation of the LoRa (Long Range) network on Selati Game Reserve. Through our funding, we have facilitated the setup and installation of a comprehensive LoRa network that spans the entire reserve. This cutting-edge technology enables continuous tracking and monitoring of endangered animals, including rhinos, cheetahs, lions, and elephants, around the clock.
The LoRa network not only enables real-time tracking of wildlife but also provides the capability to monitor vehicles and anti-poaching teams, ensuring their prompt deployment to areas requiring attention. Moreover, the technology allows seamless integration with electric fences, water tanks, and weather stations, consolidating data and insights into a dedicated operations room.
We are immensely grateful for the crucial support from the IUCN in procuring this state-of-the-art equipment and establishing the operations room. Their collaboration has been instrumental in the successful deployment and utilisation of the LoRa network, further enhancing our conservation efforts on Selati Game Reserve.
