We as the SWF, first crossed paths with Calvin Ndlovu back in 2019 when he joined the Bush Buddies programme. Since then, he has soared to new heights, earning a BSc in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology and now embarking on his Honours in the same field. Recently, Calvin also gained invaluable hands-on experience through the Selati Research Volunteer Programme, deepening his knowledge in wildlife monitoring and conservation. It’s been a privilege to witness Calvin’s journey and his unwavering passion for wildlife and the natural world.

Phase 2 expands on the earlier studies by employing LiDAR technology to gather a more comprehensive dataset on vegetation structure and biomass.
The Selati Wilderness Foundation (SWF) has embarked on a project to conduct a comprehensive drone survey of the Lillie Cycad Reserve (on Selati Game Reserve), a site of unique ecological significance as it is the sole natural habitat of the critically endangered cycad species, Encephalartos dyerianus. Listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List, this species requires urgent conservation attention.
