The highly anticipated third season of Verreaux’s Eagles is here, and fans are eager to see what new drama unfolds in the skies. Our returning stars, the formidable Verreaux’s eagle pair, are back—this time with a surprising twist. A brand-new nest has appeared just below the old one, prompting the production team (in collaboration with Africam and explore.org) to install an additional, state-of-the-art camera with audio. With both nests now under surveillance, the stakes have never been higher as we dive into the 2025 breeding season.
Previously on Verreaux’s Eagles
Season 1 (2023): The debut season captivated audiences worldwide, chronicling the journey of the eagle pair as they laid their first egg on May 15, followed by a second on May 19. Tragedy struck when one egg cracked in June, but hope soared when a single chick hatched between June 29–30. Viewers watched in awe as the young eagle grew, tested its wings, and prepared for flight. However, an unexpected technical failure in late September left fans in suspense—until mid-October, when visual confirmation of the juvenile’s survival delivered a satisfying season finale.
Season 2 (2024): The second instalment brought even more intrigue and heartbreak. Two eggs were laid, but one was mysteriously abandoned. Then, in a shocking turn of events on June 25, the adult eagles were seen pecking at the remaining egg. Experts suggested they may have sensed the egg was no longer viable, leading to an intense and emotional scene as the parents ultimately consumed it.
