Rouxcel Technology rhino collars detect and transmit abnormal behaviour in real-time. They consist of AI-Enabled RhinoWatches and a Private Network. These collars incorporate intelligent algorithms that continuously monitor rhino behaviour. In case of abnormal activity, an alert is triggered, pinpointing the incident location via GPS. The technology sits in a leg-collar fitted on each animal to send signals to a network of gateways that give 100% coverage of their terrain. This enables prompt investigation of potential poaching incidents in real-time.
Regular dehorning of rhinos at Selati Game Reserve serves as a proactive measure against poaching. This process, combined with the advanced collar technology and the reserve’s anti-poaching efforts, work in synergy to enhance the protection of these animals.
This initiative would not have been feasible without the generous support of our sponsors. We are extremely grateful to SP le Roux, founder of Rouxcel, for joining us during the operation and his support in successfully affixing and deploying the collars and supporting technology. We also extend heartfelt thanks to Baby Rhino Rescue for their donation of the Rouxcel collars. Special appreciation goes to Dr Joel Alves and his veterinary team from Wildscapes, along with students from Loop Abroad, who worked seamlessly to ensure the rhinos’ health and well-being and also for sponsoring the veterinary work.
